🔥 Discussion: DOOM: The Dark Ages – A Brutal New Beginning?
So... we finally got a full look at DOOM: The Dark Ages, and wow — it’s definitely not your usual run-and-gun DOOM.
Instead of jumping into ultra-modern sci-fi arenas, this time we’re thrown into a dark medieval world, where the Slayer’s origin takes center stage. As a weapon created by gods and kings, you're not just a lone warrior anymore — you're a legend in the making, and Hell knows your name.

🛡️ New Setting, Familiar Rage
You’ll still get that satisfying, over-the-top DOOM combat — but with a twist. You’re wielding classic tools like the Super Shotgun alongside brand-new ones like the Shield Saw, which feels like the medieval answer to a chainsaw.
🎬 Cinematic Storytelling
This entry promises a more narrative-heavy experience, digging deeper into who the Slayer is and how this eternal battle against Hell began. It’s looking like a mix of dark fantasy and sci-fi — The Witcher meets DOOM, almost?
🌍 Bigger Worlds, Richer Atmosphere
The environments look massive and mysterious — ruined castles, ancient hellscapes, twisted forests — all built with the latest idTech engine, and apparently the largest levels id Software has ever designed.
💀 Combat Looks Heavier, Grittier
Movement and attacks feel more grounded — like you’re dragging heavy armor through blood-soaked battlefields. Still brutal, just... a different flavor than the ultra-fast pace of DOOM Eternal.
💬 What do you all think about this direction?
- Do you like the shift to a darker, medieval setting?
- Are you into the more story-driven approach?
- Will the new weapons and heavier combat be a good change of pace?
